Research Areas
Biography
Anna received her PhD in Communication from the University of Washington in 2021. Her research broadly addresses the intersections of content creation, digital labor, affect/emotion, and identity. She is particularly interested in the role of influencers in the global social media ecosystem, and the ways in which emotion and the body manifest in online social spaces. Her work has been published in Communication, Culture & Critique and Feminist Media Studies, and she has taught a variety of courses including intercultural communication and public speaking.
In addition to research and teaching, Anna has worked in inclusive academic programming and project management. Most recently, in affiliation with the Tech Policy Lab, she served as the staff lead for the University of Washington Technology & Society Task Force.
