Senior Lecturer Bob Boiko wins 2009 TEACH Award

Each year the UW Information School accepts nominations for teaching excellence among our faculty through two separate awards. Tenure track faculty are eligible to win the Pedagogical Recognition for Our Faculty (PROF) Award in even years and non-tenure track faculty are eligible to win the Teaching Excellence and Creative Honors (TEACH) Award in odd years. The Information School's Recognition and Nominations committee announces eligible faculty in spring of each year and then accepts nominations for the awards from current students.

We are very proud to announce Senior Lecturer Robert Boiko as the 2009 winner of the TEACH Award.

Boiko has been leading in curriculum and classroom tools development at the iSchool since 2001. He has served as Chair of the MSIM program and has been part of the development of courses and curricula for almost every iSchool program, teaching across the spectrum of course offerings including information management, technology, design, architecture, data, and development. He has pioneered online courses and tools that allow students to participate in courses regardless of where and when they are. He has developed and deployed a wide range of teaching tools from small learning and simulation frameworks to complete course management, delivery and evaluation systems.

Boiko is also president of Metatorial Services, Inc. a micro consultancy that helps a range of international corporations, nonprofit, and government agencies figure out their information strategy and practice. He is author of Laughing at the CIO (CyberAge Books, 2007) and Content Management Bible (Wiley, 2004), two eBooks (www.laughingatthecio.com), and has contributed to or edited many other books, sites and articles. In his spare time Bob studies Chinese, Linguistics and Neuroscience.

Please join us in congratulating Bob on this honor.
