Navigating Workplace Culture for MLIS Students
Are you an MLIS student thinking about doing a DFW? Are you applying for a job or an internship? Are you wondering about how to get the most out of that experience, and a little nervous about figuring out an organization’s culture? Have you had a less than ideal internship or DFW experience?
Please join Helene Williams and MLIS students (Kelli Yakabu & Larry Eames) for a brown bag session about evaluating potential worksites and tips for navigating workplace issues at an internship, DFW, or job. We’ll be sharing mental health tips, as well as methods for researching work sites, strategies for interrupting workplace privilege and microaggressions, and ways of identifying individual values, expectations, and goals for a future internship, DFW, or job. The presentation and discussion will be interactive—we welcome your experiences, questions, and perspectives!
