Steps to Graduate
Before you are able to graduate, you are required to complete the following procedures. Learn about the Convocation ceremony.
Please review "How Do I Officially Graduate" (MSIM Resource Center) for directions.
Program of Study Form
Fill out and submit the Program of Study Form below with information on courses you have completed or will complete and are planning to use toward your degree requirement. This form is typically due on Friday of the first week of the quarter in which you intend to graduate. We recommend submitting your form at least a few weeks prior to this so that Student Services can conduct a preliminary audit. You will be contacted in advance of this time with information on where and how to submit the form; you are also encouraged to schedule an in-person appointment with the Academic Advisor for a preliminary audit during the quarter before you intend to graduate.
Master’s Degree Request
You must also submit your master's degree request online with The UW Graduate School. This can be done starting on the first day of the quarter in which you intend to graduate and no later than Sunday of the seventh week of the quarter. If you do not file master's degree request by this deadline, you may pay the $250 degree late fee and apply up until the Sunday of the ninth week of the quarter. Learn more about this policy.
All MSIM students in the Full-Time program are required to complete a Capstone project in order to graduate; it is optional for Mid-Career students. This project must be completed by the end of your final quarter.
Additional Information for Graduating Students
Three or four months after you graduate, your diploma will be sent to the permanent address on record in the MyUW website at the time of graduation. The name on the diploma will appear as it does on the MyUW website. Visit the UW Graduation, Commencement, and Diplomas website for more information.
