Internships for Credit

INFO 495

Students who are completing an internship with or without pay are eligible to earn credits if they complete additional academic deliverables with an iSchool faculty member. International students must register for credits in order to be eligible for CPT (Curricular Practical Training).

If you’re planning to receive credit for an internship in an upcoming quarter, please follow these guidelines:

Domestic Students

Step 1 (at least two weeks before beginning of the quarter):
Find a faculty sponsor. This faculty member will supervise and evaluate your internship as well as be responsible to give you a grade for INFO 495.

Step 2 (at least one week before beginning of the quarter):
Report your internship placement on iCareers by submitting an Experiential Learning Placement Survey. If it’s your first internship and/or you don’t know what to discuss with faculty or supervisor about your internship, you may complete and submit the following form: INFO 495 Internship Form.

Step 3 (2-3 days):
Once we process your INFO 495 request, we’ll send you an add code.

Non-Informatics Majors

Students not currently enrolled in the Informatics major will not have access to iCareers, and will not be able to complete the Experiential Learning Placement Survey as a result. In lieu of the Experiential Learning Placement Survey, non-majors should complete the INFO 495: Internship Proposal Form.
