Lab Hardware
Workstations
The Information School computer labs—Computer Classroom, Technology Exploration (TE) Lab, and Quiet Study Lab—contain 64 student stations. Each station has a 24" Apple iMac configured with Boot Camp to boot into both Windows Vista and OS X Leopard. This equipment was funded by a 2007 award from the UW Student Technology Fee (STF). Each workstation has the following specifications:
- 2.4 GHz Intel Core2 Duo CPU
- 3 GB RAM
- USB and Firewire ports
- Integrated iSight camera
- DVD-RW drive
- 300 GB, 7200 rpm hard drive
- 24" display
- Optical mouse and keyboard
- Windows Vista and Mac OS 10.5
Servers
The Student Server Room, located inside the TE Lab (MGH 440), contains 56 non-production-quality IBM Lenovo T60 laptops for use as servers with the following specifications:
- 2 GHz Intel Core2 Duo CPU
- 2 GB RAM
- 80 GB hard drive
- DVD-RW
- Ethernet, 802.11g wireless
NOTE - the laptop server hardware has the best support with Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 do not identify everything by default.
