iSchool Graduation FAQ

Q:  What do I wear to iSchool Convocation?

A:  Caps and gowns are required for participation in iSchool Convocation.  To order your gown, see the UW Commencement website.

Q:  How do I order cap and gown if I am an online student?

A:  When you register for the Ceremony on UW Commencement website, you will be asked if you are living in the Puget Sound area or out of state.  Students living out of town are allowed to choose a specific pick-up time that is closer to the ceremony date.  Plan to pick up your cap/gown before the Reception on Red Square on June 10 at 6 p.m.

The current schedule lists pickup dates of June 2, 3, 4, 5.  Students who are unable to pick up their attire by June 5 will be directed via the registration/order form to specific pick up times closer to the date of the ceremony.

If you cannot pick up your own cap/gown on time, arrange for a friend or family member to do so for you.  To have someone else pick up your cap and gown for you, just print out your receipt and sign it, and add a note authorizing your friend/family member to pick up your cap and gown for you.  They will be able to take this to pick the garments up for you at the location designated by the website.

Q:  Where do I purchase parking for the event?

A:  All parking needs to be purchased in advance for the iSchool Convocation through the UW Commencement website.

Q:  How do I put on my master’s hood?

A:  You don’t. Your hood will be placed on you during the ceremony.  Carry it over your arm into the ceremony.

Q:  How long does iSchool Convocation last?

A:  iSchool Convocation generally lasts less than 2 hours, though will vary with the size of the graduating class.

A:  All tickets are requested through the iSchool Convocation Registration Site.  The Registration site will be open for graduating students from April 15 until May 17.

Q:  Are tickets required for iSchool Convocation?

A:  Due to the Meany Hall venue restrictions, all guests of the graduating student must have tickets to enter the iSchool Convocation ceremony.  Graduating students do not need tickets to attend, but must register for Convocation at the  iSchool Convocation Registration Site between April 15 and May 16.

Q:  How many tickets can I request at the iSchool Convocation site?

A:  You can request up to four priority tickets for your guests at the iSchool Convocation Registration Site between April 15 and May 16.  Remember:  the graduating student does not need a ticket.

Q:  What if I want to bring more than four guests?
