IMT 590 Course Requirements
The following requirements must be met in order to receive credit for IMT 590. It is the student’s responsibility to complete all requirements in a timely manner. If any of these course requirements are not met, the student may receive either a No Credit (NC) grade or an Incomplete (I) grade.
During the first week of your internship you should meet with your host site supervisor and complete the “MSIM Internship Learning Objectives Agreement (LOA). After you and your supervisor complete this agreement, it should be forwarded to the IMT 590 Faculty Coordinator via email attachment.
For a full time, summer-only position, mid-summer quarter is when you should meet with your host site supervisor to complete the Mid-Internship Report ;As soon as the two of you complete this report, submit the completed form to the IMT 590 Faculty Coordinator (no later than the final instruction date of the quarter).
For part time positions spread over multiple quarters, you should meet with your host site supervisor to complete the Mid-Internship Report every mid-quarter (about 5 weeks into each quarter). As soon as the two of you complete this report, submit the completed form to the IMT 590 Faculty Coordinator (no later than the final instruction date of the quarter). If the student and/or the supervisor determine that the Learning Objectives Agreement should be revised, please note this on the Mid-Internship Report. The IMT 590 Faculty Coordinator will evaluate the Mid-Internship Report to verify adequate progress. Assuming adequate progress is being made, the student may continue to register for IMT 590 for the next quarter in order to complete the internship.
During subsequent quarters of the internship (in a multiple quarter position), the student completes the tasks and projects outlined in the Learning Objectives Agreement.
Two weeks before the end of the final quarter of the internship the student should prompt their host site supervisor to complete the Supervisor’s Final Evaluation , which the supervisor then sends directly to the IMT 590 Faculty Coordinator via email attachment.
One week before the end of the final quarter of the internship the student should complete their outline for the Student’s Final Narrative Report and submit this to the IMT 590 Faculty Coordinator.
It is the responsibility of the student to contact the IMT 590 Faculty Coordinator no later than two weeks before the end of their internship in order to schedule an exit interview. All final paperwork (including the Supervisor's Final Evaluation and the Student’s Final Narrative Report) must be submitted at least two days before the exit interview so that the Faculty Coordinator has sufficient time to review these documents before the interview.
IMT 590 is a CR/NC course. The student’s Learning Objective Agreement, Mid-Internship Report, Supervisor’s Final Evaluation, student’s Final Narrative Report, and the exit interview with the IMT 590 Faculty Coordinator will serve as a basis for course credit.
