MLIS Degree Research Project

The INFX 594: Degree Research Project is one of the four options for MLIS students to complete their required Culminating Experience.

The Degree Research Project provides a means for the student to work directly with a full-time iSchool faculty member on that faculty member's ongoing research. The student outcomes of the Research Project demonstrate a series of competencies and abilities including significant aspects of research project planning, implementing, assessing, and result presention.  Students may pursue a Research Project with a faculty member on an individual-basis or as part of a defined group.  The faculty member should be one whose research agenda is of particular interest to the student.

The elements of the Research Project include:

  • 3 credit hours
  • Must be pre-arranged
  • Duration lasts for one quarter
  • Eligible fall, winter, spring, or summer quarter

Enrollment in INFX 594 is by arrangement with the faculty member. Students are encouraged to approach faculty of interest as early as possible since their may be particular curricular or experiential prerequisites to particpating in the faculty member's research.

The MLIS Degree Research Project option launches in winter 2011.  More information will be provided on this website prior to this time.
