Freshman Direct Admissions Program (FDAP)
The admissions process for the Informatics major is increasingly competitive. Through the Freshman Direct Admissions Program (FDAP), high school students interested in the major have an opportunity to apply to the major as part of the admissions process for the UW. Students selected for FDAP will be awarded Informatics major status upon admission to the UW and will be involved in the academic and social life of the Information School, participating in courses, activities, and research opportunities as appropriate for each year within the major, including their freshmen and sophomore years.
Through FDAP, you need apply only to the University of Washington Undergraduate Admissions. As long as you indicate "Informatics" as your major on the application, your application will be considered automatically by the Informatics Admissions Committee and you do not need to complete the online Informatics application.
To begin the FDAP process, first apply for UW undergraduate admission.
Application Deadlines for the UW:
- December 1, 2010, for Priority Admission
- January 15, 2011, final closing date
Important: Indicate "Informatics" as your choice of major on the application.
Admission to the major will be based on evaluation of various qualitative and quantitative factors, including high school GPA, SAT scores, personal statement, and any additional information provided in their application file. For more guidance download the FDAP planning guide.
