iSchool Career Resources
One of the goals of the major is to develop your potential as a professional. Students are encouraged to participate in internships during their time in the Informatics program. Internships allow networking with professionals, provide for résumé building, and can give you the skills needed to secure a job upon graduation.
Employer Connections Fair
Hosted by The Information School, the Employer Connections Fair is designed to provide iSchool students and alumni with the opportunity to connect with employers on career opportunities, job openings, internship and fieldwork placements, and research. The fair is open to all Information School students, as well as to the rest of the UW student body.
For more information about the ECF, see the Employer Connections page.
Personalized Career Advice
The iSchool Office of Student and Academic Services provides guidance to UW students and graduates who are seeking employment. The iSchool maintains a Web page of employment listings and other information relevant to the job search process: ischool.uw.edu/resources/career. In addition, the Informatics Academic Adviser offers individual assistance on résumé development and interviewing techniques. The Information School also maintains two e-mail distribution lists of job postings and a list of potential employers for iSchool students. You are highly encouraged to join these listservs so that you may start gathering information on job opportunities and qualifications that employers are looking for.
istujobs
This listserv distributes student job postings (opportunities that are available to students while they are in school). This is an open list that anyone can subscribe and post to.
