Don't miss the Annual Spencer G. Shaw Lecture on October 24, 2007 join us as we welcome award-winning author Walter Dean Myers, the three-time recipient of the Coretta Scott King Award and the first winner of the Michael L. Printz Award.
"Books & Boys - Making it Work!"
For nearly 30 years, boys have been falling further behind girls in nearly every subject in school. A major cause is that boys read less than girls. Join award-winning young adult author Walter Dean Myers as he explores the relationship between boys and books, and how we can work together to foster boys' love of reading.
The Spencer Shaw Lecture Series presents well-known authors speaking about their work and library service for children and young adults. The Series is funded by the Spencer G. Shaw Lectureship Fund in honor of Professor Emeritus Spencer G. Shaw, a renowned librarian, storyteller and teacher.
$4 UWAA members, $5 general admission
The lecture begins at 7:00 in Kane Hall, room 220, with reception to follow at 8:00 p.m. in the Walker-Ames room across the hall.
